Ensinar português é ensinar gramática? : as expectativas de pais e alunos

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho consiste em uma pesquisa realizada junto a pais e a alunos das três séries do Ensino Médio de uma escola da rede particular de ensino do sul de Minas Gerais. O Objetivo foi investigar quais são suas expectativas com relação ao ensino de Língua Portuguesa. Os fatores que motivaram a realização da pesquisa foram as contínuas reclamações e questionamentos de pais e alunos para com o material didático utilizado, pois este suprime o ensino da teoria gramatical de seu conteúdo e, consequentemente, limitava as aulas ao ensino da teoria e produção de texto. Muitos pais reclamavam que seus filhos não estavam realmente "aprendendo português". Assim sendo, solicitamos aos pais e aos alulnos que respondessem a um questionário contendo perguntas objetivas a respeito da importância do ensino da teoria gramatical nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa. Constatamos que a grande maioria atribui significativa importância ao ensino e domínio das regras da norma culta e esperam que, além da leitura e da produção de texto, a gramática também seja ensinada nas aulas de língua materna. Abstract: This paper consists on a research with parents and students from the high school three first grades from a private institution in the south of the state of Minas Gerais. The aim was to investigate which are the parents and the students' expectations concerning the teaching of the Portuguese Language . The factors that motivated the research were the continuous parents and students' complaining and questioning when it came to the material that was being used in the classes, because it suppressed the theoretical grammar teaching and, consequently, it limited the classes to the teaching of reading and text production. A lot of parents complained that their sons were not "learning Portuguese". This way, parents and students were asked to answer a set of straight questions related to the importance of the theoretical grammar during the Portuguese classes. We have noticed that the majority of the questioned people gives considerable importance to the teaching and mastering of the standard speech rules, and that, besides the reading and text production teaching, they expect that the grammar rules be taught as well.
