Relations between the gini index with the human development index and the gross domestic product of the rmvpln municipalities under the regional development optics

Abstract

The objective of this article is to verify the relations between the Gini Index with the Municipal Human Development Index (HDI) and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of the municipalities, considering the regional development of the Metropolitan Region of the Paraiba Valley and Litoral Norte (RMVPLN) of the State of Sao Paulo. Therefore, it seeks to present these indicators and to compare them through a descriptive parametric statistical analysis, in the municipalities and their subregions of the RMVPLN. After this validation, the statistical analysis procedures used to agglomerate the municipalities will prove the relationship between these variables. These results show that municipalities or as set of municipalities grouped with sub-regions metropolitan regions presented socioeconomic differences and inequalities directly linked to human development and economic growth, can influence regional development. It is concluded that there is a need to adopt more in-depth studies on socioeconomic development, in order to provide information to political decision-makers in the regional development of RMVPLN through plans, programs and projects, in accordance with the established guidelines of this unit region of the State of Sao Paulo.
