Estudo dos efeitos da implantação da indústria de papel e celulose na região de Imperatriz - MA

Abstract

Resumo: A busca de novas alternativas para se promover o processo de desenvolvimento local emerge no instante em que surge uma nova dinâmica de integração socioeconômica de reconstrução social, de geração de emprego e de renda. Essas alternativas vêm sendo avaliadas e debatidas, já que muitas apresentam projetos inovadores que auxiliam a sociedade a contemplar políticas com uma visão mais ampla do desenvolvimento local, levando em conta seu potencial e sua matriz cultural, para definir e explorar suas potencialidades e especificidades, buscando competitividade num contexto de rápidas e profundas transformações. Nesse âmbito, este trabalho teve por objetivo analisar os efeitos da instalação da indústria de papel e celulose no processo de desenvolvimento local e seus reflexos no desenvolvimento sustentável do município de Imperatriz, no Estado do Maranhão. Para isso, adotou-se a pesquisa explicativa e descritiva em um estudo de caso realizado no município de Imperatriz/MA. Após a pesquisa, os dados foram estruturados e submetidos à análise com as ferramentas PESTAL e Matrizes GUT e SWOT, para a geração de informações e a obtenção de resultados que apontam vários pontos fortes na região estudada, como o interesse dos atores no empreendimento e do mercado pelas muitas oportunidades oferecidas, fatores decisivos para avaliar a importância da implantação da indústria de papel e celulose no sul do Maranhão.

Abstract: The search for new alternatives to promote the local development process emerges at the moment when a new dynamic of socioeconomic integration of social reconstruction of employment and income generation emerges. These alternatives have been evaluated and debated, since many present innovative projects that end up helping society contemplate policies with a broader vision of the concept, taking into account their potential and their cultural matrix, to define and exploit their potentialities and specificities, seeking competitiveness in a context of rapid and profound changes. The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of the installation of the pulp and paper industry on the local development process and the impact on the sustainable development of the municipality of Imperatriz, in the state of Maranhão. For that, the explanatory and descriptive research was adopted in a case study carried out in the municipality of Imperatriz/ MA. After the research the data were structured and submitted to the analysis with the tools PESTAL, Matrix GUT and SWOT, to generate information and thus obtain the results that point out several strengths in the region of study, as the interest of the actors in the enterprise and the market's interest in the many opportunities. These factors are decisive for evaluating the importance of the implantation of the paper and pulp industry in the south of Maranhão.
