Relações raciais e a prática profissional : a percepção de psicólogos sobre sua atuação em relações raciais

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo conhecer as práticas e dificuldades do Psicólogo em trabalhar relações raciais trazidas por seus clientes. O estudo investigou como o psicólogo entende o racismo, visto que este, se encontra presente na sociedade brasileira desde os primórdios da história do país. E como o psicólogo entende e trabalha essa demanda com seu cliente. A partir de leituras sobre o preconceito racial no Brasil, e a relação do psicólogo frente a esse tema, foi realizada uma pesquisa de campo com uma abordagem quantitativa, cujo instrumento foi um questionário online aplicado em uma amostra de sessenta participantes dos Estados de São Paulo e Minas Gerais. O instrumento abordou os seguintes temas: a percepção de psicólogos sobre sua atuação em relações raciais, seus sentimentos e reações diante do tema e o seu preparo acadêmico-científico para atuar com este tema. Os resultados receberam tratamento estatístico de distribuição de frequência e qui-quadrado. Encontrou-se diferenças estatísticas significantes com relação ao tipo de universidade, tempo de formação e presença de discussões sobre o racismo nas aulas, o que corrobora com as dificuldades relatadas pelos participantes ao atenderem usuários com queixas referentes às relações raciais. Assim, os principais resultados encontrados referem-se ao fato de que acontecem situações de racismo e injúria racial dentro do ambiente de trabalho do psicólogo, independentemente da cor do profissional ou de seus usuários, no entanto, o preparo do profissional de psicologia para atuar com as relações raciais ainda é precário, indicando os efeitos do racismo estrutural na formação dos profissionais. Com os resultados levantados, pode-se compreender vivências, dificuldades e o preparo de psicólogos perante manifestações sobre as relações raciais por seus clientes.

Abstract: This research aimed to know the practices and difficulties of the Psychologist in working with racial relations brought by his clients. The study investigated how the psychologist understands racism, since it has been present in Brazilian society since the beginning of the country's history. And how the psychologist understands and works this demand with his client. Based on readings about racial prejudice in Brazil, and the relationship between the psychologist and this theme, a field research was conducted with a quantitative approach, the instrument of which was an online questionnaire applied to a sample of sixty participants from the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. The instrument approached the following themes: the perception of psychologists about their performance in racial relations, their feelings and reactions to the theme, and their academic-scientific preparation to act with this theme. The results received statistical treatment of frequency and chi-square distribution. Significant statistical differences were found in relation to the type of university, time of formation, and presence of discussions on racism in the classes, which corroborates the difficulties reported by the participants in attending users with complaints regarding racial relations. Thus, the main results found refer to the fact that situations of racism and racial insult occur within the work environment of the psychologist regardless of the color of the professional or of its users, however, the preparation of the psychology professional to act with racial relations is still precarious, indicating the effects of structural racism on the training of professionals. With the results raised, one can understand experiences, difficulties and the preparation of psychologists before manifestations of racial relations by their clients.
