O papel das avós na família contemporânea = estudo exploratório segundo a perspectiva das avós

Abstract

Resumo: O modelo tradicional da família tem sofrido cada vez mais modificações em seus padrões de funcionamento. Durante as últimas décadas, a vida das mulheres passou por transformações e as mesmas tiveram seus papéis e funções modificados dentro da família. Na atualidade, pode-se perceber uma mudança no papel que as avós passaram a exercer, o que implica a estas avós um sentido mais vasto da sua atuação na família. A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo levantar o papel das avós nas famílias de classe média, segundo a perspectiva das avós. Especificamente, buscou-se analisar quais são os principais sentimentos de ser avó, os papéis desempenhados por elas na família, se interferem na educação de seus netos e, como lidam com os conflitos que surgem nas relações. Foram estudadas mulheres avós de classe média, moradoras das cidades de Taubaté e Tremembé, estado de São Paulo. Foram selecionadas 100 mulheres avós, através de contato direto e por indicações de terceiros, para a aplicação de um questionário que contém 30 questões. Os dados obtidos foram analisados quantitativamente com o auxílio do software Excel, por meio dos procedimentos de codificação das respostas, tabulação e cálculos estatísticos. Os resultados revelaram que a principal mudança percebida com a chegada dos netos foi a de realização pessoal, e que a satisfação e a responsabilidade são os maiores sentimentos em sua tarefa de ser avó, desempenhando cada vez mais o papel de cuidadora, historiadora e confidente. Na perspectiva das mulheres pesquisadas, o modelo ideal de avó é aquele que se preocupa com o bem-estar dos netos e os estimula para o futuro. Embora a maioria das avós afirmarem que não possuem conflitos com os netos, as que possuem tentam resolvê-los conversando. Pode-se concluir que o convívio frequente entre avós e netos resulta no fortalecimento dos vínculos, cuja relação intergeracional acaba proporcionando boas vantagens. Juntamente, os idosos podem apresentar uma melhor qualidade de vida, pois se sentem mais ativos e valorizados. Palavras-

Abstract: The traditional family’s model has been increasingly modified in its functioning patterns. During the last decades, women's live have undergone transformations and their roles and functions have changed within the family. Nowadays, it’s possible to notice a change in grandmother’s role begin to play, which implies them a vaster sense of their role in the family. This research aimed to understand the grandparents’ role in middle class families, from their own perspective. Specifically, it sought to analyze what are the main feelings of being a grandmother, the roles played by them in the family, if they interfere at their grandchildren education and how they deal with the conflicts that arise in family’s relationships.We studied middle class grandparents from Taubaté and Tremembé cities, State of São Paulo. One hundred grandmothers were selected, through direct contact and referral by third parties, to apply a questionnaire containing 30 questions.The collected data were analyzed, measured with Excel software help through the procedures of codifying the answers, tabulation and statistical calculations. The results reveal that the main change perceived with the arrival of the grandchildren was the personal fulfillment. Satisfaction and responsibility are the greatest feelings in their task of being a grandmother, increasingly playing the role of caregiver, historian and confidant. From the perspective of the studied women, the ideal grandmother’s model is the one that cares about the well-being of grandchildren and encourages them for the future. Although most grandparents say that they have no conflicts with their grandchildren, who has tries to settle it by talking. It concludes that the frequent interaction between grandparents and grandchildren results in the strengthening of bonds, whose intergenerational relationship ends up providing good advantages. So, older people can have a better quality of life because they feel more active and values.
