dc.description.abstractIn previous research, analyzing 1901 patients with abuse related disturbances, we identified five diagnosis categories. Objectives: 1. verify the frequency of the alcohol chronic abuse related disorders at the same patient; 2. bearing the comparison of these results with the previous study; 3. suggesting a medical model examination. Method: it is a retrospective study made by collection of medical records that had reference to chronic alcohol abuse with a standartize examination and comparative study with previous research. Results: 23.08% of patients had two diagnosis categories, 46.15% in three, 20.51% in four, 10.26% in five. The comparison with previous study showed more patients with more than one diagnosis between the categories. Conclusions: 1. all patients showed more than one diagnosis category; 2. in comparison with previous study there were more diagnosis; 3. treating patients with alcohol abuse, you must have to identify: alcohol direct effects and/or abstinence, digestive and/ or metabolic diseases, infections, nutritional disorders and trauma. © Copyright Moreira Jr. Editora.
