The cutting fluid used in cutting process have a favorable environment for dissemination of microorganisms that deteriorate its properties over time. One approach to control such proliferation is by ultraviolet radiation aplication, known technique for his action in partial elimination of microorganisms on surfaces. The objective of this study is to test the performance of a device for applying ultraviolet radiation in controlling these organisms in cutting fluids. The amount of used ultraviolet lamps was varied and the result was compared to an initial growth curve, which has shown good performance of the tested device.en
