Odontologia hospitalar : revisão de literatura

Abstract

Resumo: A presença do cirurgião-dentista na equipe multidisciplinar diminui os custos das instituições hospitalares e consequentemente o tempo de internação. Salienta-se que o cirurgião-dentista não é somente parte da equipe multidisciplinar, mas também desenvolve atividades específicas no âmbito hospitalar como a criação e a orientação de protocolos de higienização, além de fazer a supervisão e realizar procedimentos em pacientes com necessidades especiais. Foram realizadas pesquisas em bases de dados bibliográficos, como Medline, Scielo, Google Scholar e CAPES. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi realizar uma revisão de literatura dos conhecimentos mais atuais acerca da relevância sobre a inserção e participação da Odontologia no âmbito hospitalar e na equipe multidisciplinar, visando evidenciar o impacto da atuação dos cirurgiões-dentistas na prevenção, no diagnóstico e no tratamento de doenças, contribuindo para a melhora da qualidade de vida e da saúde dos pacientes internados.

Abstract: The presence of the dental surgeon in the multidisciplinary team reduces the costs of hospital institutions and consequently the length of hospital stay. It should be noted that the dentist is not only part of the multidisciplinary team, but also develops specific activities in the hospital, such as the creation and guidance of hygiene protocols, in addition to supervising and performing procedures on patients with special needs.
