Benefícios do sistema de gestão da segurança e saúde do trabalho

Abstract

Resumo: O número excessivo de acidentes em empresas e os grandes desastres mundiais divulgados pela mídia levam as empresas a acreditarem que não basta se diferenciar no mercado pela competitividade e lucro, elas também devem demonstrar uma atitude ética e responsável quanto à segurança e saúde em seus ambientes de trabalho, além de cuidar das questões ambientais. O sistema de gestão da segurança e saúde no trabalho (SGSST), considerado um instrumento eficaz para a melhoria das condições do ambiente de trabalho, é uma das possíveis alternativas para a evolução da gestão nas empresas. Apesar de não haver pesquisas ou dados oficiais no Brasil sobre a quantidade de organizações que possuem SGSSTs, é possível notar uma quantidade crescente de empresas que têm SGSSTs implementados e os divulgam em eventos e publicações, entretanto, existe uma grande quantidade de empresas que desconhecem os SGSSTs, os conceitos envolvidos, seus elementos e que resultados podem ser obtidos com a sua implementação. Nesse contexto, este trabalho apresenta sua importância, pois apresenta e discute motivos que devem ser considerados pelas empresas para se investir em SST; apresenta as principais normas e guias que propõem modelos para os SGSSTs e contribui com informações relevantes que auxiliem as empresas na concepção e implementação de seus SGSSTs.

Abstract: The excessive number of accidents in companies and the great world-wide disasters spread by the media take the organizations to believe that it is not enough just differentiate in the marketplace by competitiveness and profit, they also must demonstrate an attitude ethic and responsible to the safety and health in theirs workplaces, besides taking care of the environmental issues. The Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), considered an effective tool for the improvement of the workplace conditions, is one of the possible alternatives for the management evolution in companies. Despite of haven't research or official data in Brazil above the quantity of organizations that have OHSMSs, it is possible to verify a growing quantity of companies that have implemented OHSMS s and that shows in events and publications, in the mean time, there is a great quantity of companies that doesn't know the OHSMS s, the concepts involved, elements and results that can be obtained with this implementation. In this context, this work presents that importance, since discusses motives that must be considered by the companies to invested in SMS; also presents the principal standards and guides that propose models for the OHSMSs and it contributes with relevant informations that help the companies in the conception and implementation of their OHSMSs
