Etiologias do sorriso gengival : revisão de literatura

Abstract

Resumo: O sorriso gengival é um termo utilizado para definir a exposição excessiva do tecido gengival no nível maxilar, essa exposição é considerada prejudicial à estética acima de 2mm. As possíveis etiologias do sorriso gengival encontradas na literatura são: erupção passiva alterada, lábio superior curto ou hiperativo, crescimento vertical excessivo da maxila, extrusão dentoalveolar, hiperplasia gengival por biofilme ou fármacos e assimetria do lábio superior. Essas etiologias têm causas variadas, podendo ser de origem esquelética, dentárias, musculares ou gengivais, e podem aparecer mais de uma etiologia em um mesmo caso de sorriso gengival. É de extrema importância o correto diagnóstico da causa do sorriso gengival para um plano de tratamento eficaz. O tratamento do sorriso gengival é importante, pois influencia na autoestima de seu portador e na estética do sorriso, que não se encontra somente na posição e cor dos dentes como também na saúde e exposição gengival. Sendo o proposito deste trabalho revisar a literatura disponível, artigos relacionados à fatores que influenciam o sorriso gengival em base de dados Medline, Scielo e Google Acadêmico.

Abstract: The gingival smile is a term used to define excessive exposure of gingival tissue at the maxillary level, this exposure is considered harmful to aesthetics above 2mm. The possible etiologies of gingival smile found in the literature are: altered passive eruption, short or hyperactive upper lip, excessive vertical growth of the maxilla, dentoalveolar extrusion, gingival hyperplasia by biofilm or drugs and asymmetry of the upper lip. These etiologies have varied causes, which can be of skeletal, dental, muscular, or gingival origin and can appear more than one etiology in the same case of gingival smile. It is extremely important to correctly diagnose the cause of the gingival smile for an effective treatment plan. The treatment of gingival smile is important, as it influences the wearer's self-esteem and the aesthetic of the smile, which is not only found in the position and color of the teeth but also in the health and gingival exposure. The purpose of this work is to review the available literature, articles related to factors that influence gingival smile in database Medline, Scielo and Google Academic.
