Lesões bucais relacionadas ao diabetes

Abstract

Resumo: O diabetes é uma doença causada pela produção insuficiente ou má absorção de insulina, hormônio que regula o nível de glicose no sangue. A insulina é um hormônio que tem a função de promover a entrada de glicose nas células, possibilitando sua utilização para obtenção de energia e manutenção das células do nosso organismo. Essa doença pode trazer reflexos sistematicamente ao indivíduo, onde a boca é um local de múltiplas manifestações. As alterações podem ocorrer no periodonto, dentes, língua e osso das arcadas da face. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo analisar as alterações orofaciais em pacientes com diabetes, expondo o papel importante do profissional da odontologia no tratamento desses indivíduos. Este trabalho trata-se de uma revisão bibliográfica, no qual foi obtido um maior número de informações sobre afecções bucais em pacientes portadores de diabetes. Foi utilizado um total de 15 artigos, sendo eles de pesquisa de campo e revisão de literatura. É de grande importância, a participação do cirurgião-dentista no tratamento dos pacientes com diabetes, trazendo um bem-estar aomesmo e evitando maiores complicações, na condição de saúde bucal dos portadores

Abstract: Diabetes is a disease caused by insufficient production or malabsorption of insulin, a hormone that regulates blood glucose level. Insulin is a hormone that has the function of promoting the entry of glucose into cells, enabling its use to obtain energy and maintain the cells of our body. This disease can systematically bring reflexes to the individual, where the mouth is a place of multiple manifestations. Changes can occur in the periodontium, teeth, tongue and bone of the facial arches. This study aimed to analyze orofacial changes in patients with diabetes, exposing the important role of dental professionals in the treatment of these individuals. This work is a bibliographical review, in which a greater amount of information about oral affections in patients with diabetes was obtained. A total of 15 articles were used, including field research and literature review. The participation of the dentist in the treatment of patients with diabetes is of great importance, bringing themwell-being and avoiding further complications in the oral health condition of patients.
