Poder e política em A revolução dos bichos, de George Orwell

Abstract

Resumo: O tema do presente estudo é a relação entre poder e política na obra A revolução dos Bichos, de George Orwell. A pergunta de pesquisa que orientou o estudo foi: como se dá a relação entre política e poder no livro? Esta pesquisa se justifica pelo investimento de esforço de análise em uma obra que ainda é atual, tanto pela sua composição estrutural quanto pela temática, e por ser mais um contributo com o campo das Ciências Humanas, pois fomenta a discussão sobre as formas de organizar a sociedade, colocando como ponto central o poder e a política. Os objetivos desta pesquisa foram: 1) aprofundar teoricamente a discussão sobre o conceito de política; 2) aprofundar a discussão sobre as formas de poder, sobretudo as autoritárias; 3) localizar elementos dessas formas de poder na obra em questão; 4) buscar na obra escolhida elementos temáticos para discutir a sociedade atual. A presente pesquisa se alinha a uma linha epistemológica interpretativista, construída a partir de argumentos ancorados em autores como Michel Foucault, propondo, assim, uma nova possibilidade de leitura da obra pesquisada. Assim, a metodologia adotada é a da análise de conteúdo, com viés qualitativo-interpretativo. Os resultados da análise apontam que, na obra, a relação entre poder e política se dá de forma obscura, porém mútua.

Abstract: The theme of this study is the relationship between power and politics in George Orwell's "The Animal Revolution". The research question that guided the study was: how does the relationship between politics and power take place in the book "The animal revolution"? This research is justified by the investment of analysis effort in a work that is still current, both for its structural composition and the theme, and for being another contribution to the field of Human Sciences, as it fosters the discussion on ways to organize the society, placing power and politics at the center. The objectives of this research were: 1) to theoretically deepen the discussion on the concept of politics; 2) to deepen the discussion on forms of power, especially authoritarian ones; 3) locate elements of these forms of power in the work in question; 4) search the chosen work for thematic elements to discuss the actual society. This research is in line with an interpretative epistemological line, built from arguments anchored in authors like Michel Foucault, thus proposing a new possibility of reading the researched work. The results of the analysis show that, in the work, the relationship between power and politics takes place in an obscure but mutual way.
