A representação LGBT em Um milhão de finais felizes, de Vitor Martins

Abstract

Resumo: O tema deste trabalho é a forma como são representados os membros da comunidade LGBT na literatura, mais especificamente na obra Um milhão de finais felizes de Vitor Martins. O problema de pesquisa é como são representados membros da comunidade LGBT e de que forma se percebe o social na literatura, mais especificamente dentro da obra de Martins. O que justifica a pesquisa é o alto índice de mortes de LGBTs no país. Segundo os dados do relatório anual de 2019 realizado pelo Grupo Gay da Bahia, o Brasil é um dos países que mais mata LGBTs no mundo. A cada 26 horas um LGBT é assassinado ou se suicida vítima de LGBTfobia. A forma como a sociedade vê essas minorias influencia muito esses dados, assim a literatura pode ser uma aliada para que aconteçam mudanças. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a representação dos membros da comunidade LGBT dentro da literatura. A pesquisa baseou-se nos estudos sobre literatura e sociedade; sobre a construção discursiva de identidades sociais; e sobre a representação homossexual na literatura brasileira. O método é qualitativo e bibliográfico, pois analisaremos a obra de Martins em busca das características sociais e a forma que as personagens LGBTs são representadas. Os resultados nos mostraram um novo discurso literário que vem se manifestando em diversos autores contemporâneos, um novo ponto de vistas dos próprios membros da comunidade, personagens mais humanas que vão além da sua sexualidade. Assim, os resultados desse estudo podem concluir que a literatura se transforma simultaneamente às mudanças na sociedade, essa dinâmica mostra a ampliação das dimensões da vida humana consideradas na construção das personagens, um progresso com relação ao respeito e à tolerância, em comparação com as antigas representações estereotipadas presentes na literatura.

Abstract: The theme of this work is the way the members of the LGBT community are represented in literature, more specifically in the work Um milhão de finais felizes by Vitor Martins. The research problem is how members of the LGBT community are represented and how the social is perceived in literature, more specifically within Martins' work. What justifies the research is the high rate of LGBT deaths in the country. According to data from the 2019 annual report by Grupo Gay da Bahia, Brazil is one of the countries that kills the most LGBT people in the world. Every 26 hours an LGBT is murdered or commits suicide as a victim of LGBTphobia. The way society views these minorities influences this data a lot, so literature can be an ally for changes to happen. The objective of this work was to verify the represetation of the members of the LGBT community within the literature. The research was based on studies on literature and society; on the discursive construction of social identities; and about homosexual representation in Brazilian literature. The method is qualitative and bibliographic, as we will analyze Martins' work in search of social characteristics and the way that LGBT characters are represented. The results showed us a new literary discourse that has been manifesting itself in several contemporary authors, a new point of view of the members of the community themselves, more human characters that go beyond their sexuality. Thus, the results of this study can conclude that the literature is transformed simultaneously with changes in society, this dynamic shows the expansion of the dimensions of human life considered in the construction of the characters, a progress in relation to respect and tolerance, in comparison with the old ones stereotyped representations present in the literature.
