Aplicabilidade da inteligência artificial na odontologia

Abstract

Resumo: A inteligência artificial (IA) é um software programado para estar em constante evolução, passando por constantes atualizações que permitem melhorar seu desempenho a cada uso. Na odontologia a Inteligência artificial é utilizada desde um método de diagnóstico e planejamento, até mesmo para a produção de peças protéticas. Este trabalho teve como o objetivo analisar por meio da revisão de literatura a aplicabilidade da Inteligência artificial na Odontologia. Foram realizadas pesquisas pelo Pubmed e Google acadêmico, selecionando artigos nacionais e internacionais do ano de 2014 a 2023. Pode-se concluir que a IA é o presente e o futuro da odontologia, sendo uma grande ferramenta de auxílio na prática odontológica; pode ser aplicada no diagnóstico, planejamento, interpretação de imagens radiológicas, tomada de decisão e até mesmo efetuando a confecção de peças protéticas; agiliza e facilita o trabalho dos cirurgiões dentistas, diminuído sua carga de trabalho e fadiga, consequente melhorando a assertividade e o desempenho dos profissionais e; apesar de tudo a Inteligência artificial não substitui a experiência e o olhar critico de um odontólogo, estando ainda em um estágio inicial de desenvolvimento necessitando novos estudos e aperfeiçoamentos.

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is software programmed to be constantly evolving, undergoing constant updates that allow it to improve its performance with each use. In dentistry, artificial intelligence is used from a diagnostic and planning method to even the production of prosthetic parts. This work aimed to analyze, through a literature review, the applicability of Artificial Intelligence in dentistry in the areas of Surgery, Dentistry, Endodontics, Orthodontics and Prosthetics. Searches were carried out through Pubmed and Google Scholar, selecting national and international articles from 2014 to 2023. It can be concluded that AI is the present and future of dentistry, being a great tool to aid dental practice; it can be applied in diagnosis, planning, interpretation of radiological images, decision making and even making prosthetic parts; speeds up and facilitates the work of dental surgeons, reducing their workload and fatigue, consequently improving the assertiveness and performance of professionals and; Despite everything, Artificial Intelligence does not replace the experience and critical eye of a dentist, as it is still in an early stage of development requiring new studies and improvements.
