Sentidos e significados constituídos por profissionais de saúde no contexto hospitalar sobre a pandemia da Covid-19

Abstract

Resumo: A pandemia da COVID-19 emergiu como um fenômeno complexo e configurou como um desafio sanitário e provocou expressivas transformações em diferentes contextos, como por exemplo, nas relações do cotidiano, no funcionamento das cidades, assim como nas alterações de hábitos e comportamentos. A partir desta temática esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar as significações sobre a pandemia da COVID-19 constituídas por profissionais de saúde que atuaram diretamente no enfrentamento à doença, na cidade de São José dos Campos - SP. Bem como identificar os desafios percebidos pelas profissionais de saúde em sua atuação junto a pessoas infectadas pela COVID-19 e elencar os efeitos da pandemia sobre a saúde física e mental desses profissionais. As participantes da pesquisa foram profissionais de saúde de diferentes especialidades que possuíam (anteriormente a pandemia da COVID-19) três anos ou mais de prática no contexto hospitalar, atuado diretamente no enfrentamento a pandemia da COVID-19 no período de janeiro a dezembro de 2020. Foram entrevistadas 15 profissionais de saúde, dentre eles, duas auxiliares de enfermagem, três técnicos de enfermagem, duas enfermeiros, três fisioterapeutas, duas psicólogos e três médicos. As participantes foram selecionadas por meio da técnica de recrutamento em cadeia snowball ou bola de neve. Foi utilizado um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturada constituído por seis questões para a coleta de informações. A análise dos dados foi realizada a partir dos núcleos de significação, tendo como referência os pressupostos da psicologia sócia histórica. Os núcleos de significação foram organizados por meio de aspectos de similaridade, contradição e/ou complementariedade, sendo assim, foi possível sistematizar cinco núcleos, pelas seguintes temáticas: a opção profissional pela área da saúde e a ausência de reconhecimento da categoria, os sentimentos vividos durante o enfrentamento do vírus e as incertezas para o futuro, as consequências do combate ao vírus para a saúde física e mental, os desafios do combate à pandemia como as técnicas e estratégias utilizadas para conter a doença, falta de equipamentos, falta de recursos humanos, rotina exaustiva de limpeza e higienização, jornadas extensas de trabalho, morte, comportamento negacionista da população, mídia (fake News), política nacional de enfrentamento ao vírus e o comportamento do presidente. As participantes salientaram também que, apesar das adversidades, procuraram desenvolver uma atuação focada na humanização e destacaram que obtiveram crescimento pessoal e profissional ao longo do enfrentamento a pandemia da COVID-19. Portanto, os dados apontam subsídios para o cuidado com a saúde desses profissionais, além de divulgar a experiência do combate ao vírus da COVID-19 e demonstra a necessidade de reconhecimento dessa categoria.

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic emerged as a complex phenomenon and configured as a health challenge and caused significant transformations in different contexts, such as, for example, in everyday relationships, in the functioning of cities, as well as in changes in habits and behaviors. From this theme, this research aims to analyze the meanings about the COVID-19 pandemic constituted by health professionals who acted directly in the face of the disease, in the city of São José dos Campos - SP. As well as identifying the challenges perceived by health professionals in their work with people infected by COVID-19 and listing the effects of the pandemic on the physical and mental health of these professionals. The research participants were health professionals from different specialties who had (before the COVID-19 pandemic) three years or more of practice in the hospital context, acting directly in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic from January to December 2020 15 health professionals were interviewed, including two nursing assistants, three nursing technicians, two nurses, three physiotherapists, two psychologists and three physicians. Participants were selected using the snowball or snowball chain recruitment technique. A semi-structured interview script consisting of six questions was used to collect information. Data analysis was carried out from the meaning nuclei, with reference to the assumptions of socio-historical psychology. The meaning nuclei were organized through aspects of similarity, contradiction and/or complementarity, thus, it was possible to systematize five nuclei, by the following themes: the professional option for the health area and the lack of recognition of the category, the feelings experienced during the fight against the virus and the uncertainties for the future, the consequences of fighting the virus for physical and mental health, the challenges of fighting the pandemic such as the techniques and strategies used to contain the disease, lack of equipment, lack of human resources , exhaustive cleaning and sanitizing routine, long hours of work, death, denialist behavior of the population, media (fake news), national policy to face the virus and the behavior of the president. The participants also stressed that, despite the adversities, they sought to develop actions focused on humanization and highlighted that they achieved personal and professional growth throughout the course of facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the data point to subsidies for the health care of these professionals, in addition to disseminating the experience of combating the COVID-19 virus and demonstrating the need for recognition of this category.
