Ecoturismo e as doenças de transmissão vetorial : uma abordagem para professores de educação física

Abstract

Resumo: Ecoturismo é o ramo da atividade turística que visa à utilização do patrimônio natural de uma região, de modo sustentável. Os praticantes de tal atividade adentram às matas e, desta forma, ficam expostos às doenças vetoriais endêmicas nas regiões visitadas. Dentre os profissionais envolvidos nesta atividade, destaca-se o professor de Educação Física. O objetivo desta Dissertação foi pesquisar sobre o Ecoturismo e sua relação com as doenças endêmicas - especialmente a Malária e a Leishmaniose Tegumentar Americana (LTA) - na região do Litoral Norte Paulista no Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar e, ainda, investigar o grau de conhecimento dos professores de Educação Física da Secretaria de Esportes dos municípios de Caraguatatuba, Ilhabela, São Sebastião e Ubatuba, que trabalham e/ou participam de Programas de Ecoturismo. O estudo se justifica pelo fato de que seus resultados podem contribuir para a sugestão de mudanças na grade curricular e na ementa de certas disciplinas dos cursos de graduação em Educação Física. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa, além da revisão de literatura e da coleta de dados junto ao Instituto Florestal do estado de São Paulo, à Superintendência de Controle de Endemias (SUCEN) e à Secretaria do Meio Ambiente dos quatro municípios, foi aplicado um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas aos 79 professores dos municípios em estudo. Os resultados demonstraram que os sujeitos entendem o Ecoturismo como atividade voltada para a educação ambiental, para o turismo e lazer ou para a sustentabilidade das belezas naturais. Nenhum respondente aludiu às preocupações com os aspectos relacionados à transmissão de doenças por vetores que têm na mata seu habitat. O grau de conhecimento dos respondentes foi maior sobre a malária e menor sobre a LTA, embora ambas as doenças tenham número expressivo de casos na região. Parece que se pode afirmar a pertinência de se sugerir a inclusão da temática Ecoturismo e doenças de transmissão vetorial como conteúdo disciplinar na formação do profissional da Educação Física, como forma de preencher uma lacuna que se faz presente na grade curricular atual.

Abstract: Ecotourism is the custom tourism that uses the natural area of a region in a sustainable way. The practitioners of this activity enter forests and expose themselves to endemic vector diseases in the visited regions. Among all the professionals involved in this activity, there is the Physical Education teacher. The objective of this dissertation research was about Ecotourism and its relationship to endemic diseases - especially Malaria and American Tegument Leishmaniasis (ATL) - in the northern coast of São Paulo in the State Park of Serra do Mar, and also to investigate the teachers knowledge of the Physical Education Department of Sports of the Caraguatatuba, Ilhabela, São Sebastião and Ubatuba cities that work and / or participate in Ecotourism programs. This study is justified by the fact that its results can contribute to the suggested changes in the Physical Education curriculum and some graduation disciplines in the course. For the development of this research in addition to the literature review and the collected data from the Forestry Institute of São Paulo's State, the Endemic Control (SUCEN) and the Environment Registry of the four districts, a question- sheet was applied with open and closed questions to teachers of 79 districts under study. The results showed that the subjects understood the Ecotourism as an activity directed toward environmental education, for tourism and leisure or for natural beauty sustainability. None of the responses mentioned concerns related to the transmission of diseases by vectors that are in the forests habitat. The knowledge degree of the respondents on malaria was higher than ATL, although both diseases have a large number of cases in the region. It seems that it's necessary to suggest the inclusion of the relevance of the Ecotourism thematic and vector diseases such as disciplinary content in the professional training of Physical Education, as a way to fill the gaps in the current curriculum.
