Abstract: The heterogeneous form of occupation of the Brazilian territory is reproduced in the distribution of higher education supply in the country. Taking as a premise that higher education institutions as well as regional science are catalysts for development, the aim of this paper is to discuss the territorial stricto sensu courses of local/regional development in Brazil. The research is characterized as exploratory, quantitative approach with document design. The analysis showed the presence of uneven regional science graduate programs in Brazil, with the highest concentration in the South and Southeast regions and with a predominance of the institutions, which denotes the repetition of Brazilian regional asymmetries in higher education setting. © 2015, Universidade de Taubate.
