Title: Parkinson disease [Doença de Parkinson]
Authors: Ferri-de-Barros, João Eliezer
Abstract: The Parkinson syndrome or "agitating paralisy" was described by James Parkinsonin 1817. However, in spite of the progress of the diagnostic methods, we still don't have a diagnostic marker for Parkinson disease. The illness described by Parkinson still is one of the most common neurovegetative disease in patients with more than 60 years of age. Its evolution intensity and progression of the symptoms vary from patient to patient. Involuntary trembling bradykinesia, stiffness and postural abnormalities are the most frequent signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Levodopa is the gold standart in the symptomatic treatment of the motor manifestations of the disease. Other therapies and different therapeutic stragies are also used in order to improve the patient's quality of life. © Copyright Moreira Jr. Editora.
