Title: Youth and development: Study on risk factors and protection of adolescents in city of Campos Do Jordão - state of São Paulo - Brazil [Juventude e desenvolvimento: Estudo sobre fatores de risco e proteção de adolescentes da cidade de Campos Do Jordão - SP]

Abstract: The teenager, observed under different aspect of the developing is now protected so that it has the possibility of reaching full adulthood; however there are frequent complaints involving teenagers. To analyze the biopsychosocial context of adolescents was used in this research the proposition of Amartya Sen (2000) about instrumental freedoms and applied a version adapted to the digital format of the Questionário da Juventude Brasileira (Questionnaire of Brazilian Youth) proposed by Dell’Aglio, Koller, Cerqueira-Santos and Colaça (2011). The results show low educational level of families; as a risk factor, teenagers, mostly are in constant contact with close friends of drug users, they have family drug users and 21.4% of participants said they have tried drugs. It is alarming high rate of adolescents in the sample with suicidal ideation (25.4%) and adolescents who have attempted suicide (12.5%), among them, most women (86%). Other relevant data refer to restricted leisure opportunities in public and collective spaces, low family and social cohesion. It is proposed finally mapping services geared to society, dissemination and observation of adhesion of individuals to programs that can help the teenager in the quest for autonomy, freedom and fullness. © 2017, Universidade de Taubate.
