Abstract: Extract from the Ginkgo biloba leaves is among the most widely used herbal products and often is taken without medical advice. One of the pharmacological effects that has been arousing interest is its impact on haemostasis.(1) This results from inhibition of platelet aggregation induced by ADP antagonism of platelet activating factor (PAF) and inhibition of erythrocyte aggregation.(2-4) Two cases of postoperative bilateral haematomata after rhytidoplasty and blepharoplasty are reported in chronic users of Ginkgo biloba extract to alert plastic surgeons to this effects.
