Title: Social representations of music: training x education

Abstract: This work investigates how the students represent the graduated of music and the insight used in the process of choice for the degree in this area. For this, a focal group was held with 12 subjects composed of students from the first to the sixth semester of the music course of a college in a city of the Vale of Paraiba Paulista. A roadmap for open questions was used as a data collection tool. The analyses based on the theory of Social representation demonstrated that the licensors in all course long put the music graduated as a practical course, focused on instrumental or cancional formation, and that the music as activity Educational interdisciplinary is practically unknown to them.
