Title: Distancing of the mother tongue in the teaching/learning of a foreign language: a discoursive - pedagogical approach
Authors: de Oliveira, Walquiria Costa
Costa, Gustavo
Abstract: Linguistics, as science, investigates the natural human languages, part of a system of signs used for communication. The acquisition of the Mother Tongue (MT) is considered natural. The influence of this naturally acquired language in the desire or need, ease or difficulty of acquiring a Foreign Language (FL) is the point in this research. The direction of this reflection is guided by the dialogicity of two authors, Revuz (1998) and Ghiraldelo (2002; 2003), who concern the acquisition of MT and how it relates not only to the desire to acquire, but also to the ease or difficulty in learning a FL. From the point when the human beings make their first contacts with the mother tongue, the paper tries to realize the bond that is created. Then, it seeks to clarify the difficulty/ease of acquisition of the FL through the "distancing" proposed by Revuz. Finally, it proposes procedures, such as the use of lexis known in MT but with the sound of the FL phonemes, or the acceptance and understanding of the detachment from the MT to break locks and later failures.
