Title: Fusion of high spatial resolution with extended spectral resolution bands of CBERS satellite sensors for land use survey
Authors: Batista, Getulio Teixeira

Abstract: This paper presents the analysis of a scene from the China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellite (CBERS) imagery using techniques that allow the merging of bands from different sensors (CCD and IRMSS) that has different spatial resolution and spectral bands. Results using the IHS-RGB data transformation demonstrated that the merge of IRMSS band 2 (mid infrared) with the high resolution CCD bands increased the separability of important ecological land use and cover classes (planted versus native forest). The merge techniques provided a data set of high spatial resolution and good spectral information even using sensors with different technology (push broom vs. scanner). However, a good data registration is necessary before applying the merging techniques. Results indicate that CBERS-2 data have very good quality and spectral information if both sensors (CCD and IRMSS) are used.
