O uso da toxína botulínica tipo A em pacientes com DTM

Abstract

Resumo: Hipótese do estudo: O estudo dispôs como hipótese analisar o emprego da Toxina Botulínica em pacientes que possuiam disfunção temporomandibular. Objetivos: Por meio de uma revisão literária observou-se os avanços clínicos obtidos em pacientes após o tratamento farmacológico com essa substância. Método: Foi realizada uma revisão de literatura, utilizando de 25 artigos, publicados no período de 2015 a 2020. Conclusão: As disfunções temporomandibulares apresentam causas multifatoriais, na maioria dos casos é observado dor, além disso, o paciente pode apresentar também dificuldade ao falar, mastigar e o habito de apertar ou ranger os dentes, afetando diretamente na qualidade de vida. O uso da Toxína Botulínica tipo-A no tratamento das DTMs, tem como objetivo, ser uma técnica minimamente invasiva, com excelente prognóstico e alta presibilidade, em conjunto a isto, deve ser ressaltado baixos índices de rejeição e uma grande possibilidade de reversão. Domínio total da técnica e conhecimento anatômico prévio, garantirá o tratamento como um sucesso.

Abstract: Study hypothesis: The study aims to analyze the use of Botulinum Toxin in patients who have temporomandibular disorders. Objectives: Through a literary review, observe the clinical advances obtained in patients after pharmacological treatment with the substance. Method: A literature review will be carried out, using 25 articles, published in the period from 2015 to 2020. Conclusion: Temporomandibular disorders have multifactorial causes, in most cases pain is observed, in addition, the patient may also have difficulty speaking, chewing and the habit of clenching or grinding teeth, directly affecting quality of life. The use of Botulinum Toxin type-A in the treatment of TMDs, aims to be a minimally invasive technique, with excellent prognosis and high presibility, together with this, low rejection rates and a great possibility of reversion should be highlighted. Total mastery of the technique and previous anatomical knowledge, will guarantee the treatment as a success.
