As tecnologias da informação e comunicação no contexto dos meios de hospedagem no município de São Luís – MA

Abstract

Resumo: As tecnologias da informação e comunicação têm provocado grandes impactos nas organizações em um contexto de mundo globalizado. O turismo, por sua vez, além de ser uma grande atividade econômica que figura entre as atividades que mais geram empregos, é o maior e o principal setor mundial em volume de negócios. Em termos de turismo, a cidade de São Luís, no Estado do Maranhão, conta com vasto repertório cultural, histórico e natural, mostrando-se atrativa para receber visitas de turistas do mundo inteiro, o que contribui para o fortalecimento do setor hoteleiro, da economia e do desenvolvimento da região. Nesse cenário de tecnologias e turismo, esta pesquisa sobre as tecnologias da informação e comunicação no contexto dos meios de hospedagem no município de São Luís, MA, teve como objetivo geral investigar os usos que tais formas de hospedagem fazem da tecnologia da informação e analisar a percepção dos gestores sobre os benefícios dessas tecnologias. A metodologia adotada baseou-se em uma concepção filosófica póspositivista do tipo quantitativa e utilizou como estratégia a pesquisa de levantamento de dados, com a utilização de um questionário fechado como instrumento para sua coleta. A verificação dos dados ocorreu por meio de uma abordagem descritiva, seguida de uma análise de correlação de Spearman. Um dos resultados da pesquisa consistiu no mapeamento do perfil dos gestores ou representantes dos hotéis, do perfil do uso de TIC nas empresas participantes e da percepção dos respondentes quanto aos benefícios proporcionados pela utilização dessas tecnologias. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram atingidos e os resultados da pesquisa revelaram um amplo uso das tecnologias da informação e comunicação pelos meios de hospedagem. Constatou-se que a percepção dos respondentes sobre o potencial de benefícios que as TIC podem proporcionar no que tange às funções organizacionais das empresas foi, de forma geral, muito positiva. Por fim, foi possível identificar oportunidades para investimento de TIC em atividades de diversas funções organizacionais ainda pouco exploradas tecnologicamente, com potencial para inovação e criação de valor para os clientes.

Abstract: Information and communication technologies have had great impacts on organizations in a context of a globalized world. Tourism, in turn, in addition to being a major economic activity, being among the activities that generate the most jobs, is the largest industry in the world and the main world sector in terms of turnover. In terms of tourism, the city of São Luís, in the State of Maranhão, has a vast cultural, historical and natural repertoire, being attractive to receive visits from tourists from all over the world, which contributes to the strengthening of the hotel sector, the economy and development of the region. In this scenario of technologies and tourism, this research, on information and communication technologies in the context of lodging facilities in the city of São Luís / MA, aimed to investigate the uses that lodging facilities make of technology information and analyze the perception of managers about the benefits of these technologies. The methodology adopted was based on a post-positivist philosophical conception of the quantitative type, adopting as a strategy the research of data collection with the use of a closed questionnaire as an instrument for its collection. Data analysis was performed using a descriptive approach, followed by Spearman's correlation analysis. One of the results of the survey consisted of mapping the profile of the managers or representatives of the hotels, the profile of the use of ICT in the participating companies and the perception of the respondents regarding the benefits provided by the use of ICT. The objectives of this work were achieved, and the results of the research revealed a wide use of information and communication technologies by the means of accommodation. It was found that the perception of respondents about the potential benefits that ICT can provide with regard to the organizational functions of companies, was, in general, very positive. Finally, it was possible to identify opportunities for investment in ICT in some activities of various functions, little explored organizations in terms of application of ICT with potential for innovation and value creation for customers.
