Doença periodontal em pacientes portadores do HIV/AIDS

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho terá como objetivo uma revisão de literatura que visará abordar a doença periodontal em pacientes com HIV/AIDS. A metodologia adotada foi a de pesquisas bibliográficas de artigos científicos. A pesquisa restringiu-se as línguas portuguesa e inglesa, sendo utilizada as bases de dados PubMed, MEDLINE, SciELO, Google Acadêmico. O desenvolvimento do presente estudo possibilitou uma análise da relação entre o HIV/AIDS e a doença periodontal, envolvendo complexidades imunológicas, manifestações orais especificas em diferentes faixas etárias e a influência das terapias antirretrovirais. O tratamento deve ser individualizado e adaptado às necessidades de cada paciente, levando em consideração o estágio da doença, a presença de outras condições médicas e o uso de medicamentos antirretrovirais. Além disso, é fundamental que os pacientes com HIV recebam cuidados odontológicos regulares e mantenham uma boa higiene oral para prevenir a progressão da doença periodontal e outras complicações bucais.

Abstract: This work aims to conduct a literature review approaching the presence and evolution of periodontal disease in patients with HIV/AIDS. The methodology adopted to produce this involves several scientific articles. The study was restricted to the Portuguese and English sources, utilizing databases such as PubMed, MEDLINE, SciELO, Google Scholar, among others. The development of this study has made it possible to analyze the relationship between HIV/AIDS and periodontal disease, involving immunological complexities, specific oral manifestations in different age groups and the influence of antiretroviral therapies. Treatment must be individualized and adapted to the needs of each patient, taking into account the stage of the disease, the presence of other medical conditions and the use of antiretroviral drugs. In addition, it is essential that HIV patients receive regular dental care and maintain good oral hygiene to prevent the progression of periodontal disease and other oral complications.
